You can listen to the songs from the Upper Key Stage 2 Christmas Show of “Cinderella & Rockerfella”
To celebrate World Kindness Day, the EYFS children wanted to spread some smiles and happiness around the world. We drew some happy faces and hid them around the school for people to find and spread the joy.
We also drew an extra face to take home with us and leave somewhere to see how far our smiles can spread. If you find one of our smiles, please pass it on by putting somewhere new for other to join in. The last time we tried this our smiles spread all the way to Australia, Italy and Spain! Let’s see how far they go this time!!! 😊
To mark the beginning of Anti-Bullying week, we have been wearing odd socks to school today! This week we will be learning all about why it is important to be kind and how to celebrate our individuality.
Year 5 had an amazing day at Jarrow Hall finding out all about Anglo-Saxon life, thanks to Mark’s fantastic teaching and wealth of information!
In the morning, we met some fabulous animals and found out how they were useful to the Anglo-Saxons. Then we met Anglo-Saxon Jim in his home and we found out about his daily routine. After that, we enjoyed listening to the Beowulf story around the fire and handling some Anglo-Saxon artefacts.
In the afternoon, we explored some Anglo Saxon crafts and tried some weaving. Finally, we found out about crime and different punishments in the Anglo-Saxon times. I still can’t believe the children found me guilty in court and put me in the stocks!
Reception have had lots of fun raising money for Children in Need. We came to school in non-uniform, took part in a drawing competition and completed lots of Pudsey activities.
We can’t wait to find out how much money we raised!
Year 1 went on a lovely walk as part of our new Geography topic. We set off with our clipboards in hand to find physical features in our local area. We managed to check off all the things we were looking for including hills, cliffs, fields, sky and sea. We then discussed what we found and drew pictures of things we seen on our walk once back to class. We were super well behaved and had a fab time.
To mark Remembrance Day, the children made trees of remembrance. We all created poppies using different techniques and then proudly displayed them in our yard.
Year 6 also created an assembly for the school to watch and reflect on why have Remembrance Day. At the end of the video, the whole school took part in two minutes silence.
Year 4 carried out an excellent sound investigation. They used materials to learn all about vibrations and why they are essential for us to hear.
As part of the UK Parliament week, we had a very special visitor in school today.
Emma Lowell-Buck, the local MP for South Shields, came to see us in Year 5 to talk about her job and the Houses of Parliament.
To prepare for this visit, each child in Year 5 had composed some questions to ask Emma and it was very interesting listening to her responses. The whole event was an amazing experience for us all!
