Year 5 had an amazing day at Jarrow Hall finding out all about Anglo-Saxon life, thanks to Mark’s fantastic teaching and wealth of information!
In the morning, we met some fabulous animals and found out how they were useful to the Anglo-Saxons. Then we met Anglo-Saxon Jim in his home and we found out about his daily routine. After that, we enjoyed listening to the Beowulf story around the fire and handling some Anglo-Saxon artefacts.
In the afternoon, we explored some Anglo Saxon crafts and tried some weaving. Finally, we found out about crime and different punishments in the Anglo-Saxon times. I still can’t believe the children found me guilty in court and put me in the stocks!

Looks like a great day!
