General Information
Marsden Primary School, situated in Whitburn, Tyne and Wear. The school is located in a wonderful location, with a coastal view and a short distance from Whitburn Village and South Shields.
The school has a Nursery which has 52 places, 26 morning places and 26 afternoon places. Sessions can be a morning, an afternoon or we also offer 30-hour places subject to Government produced eligibility criteria. The rest of the school is organised on a one-form entry basis, with a maximum of 30 children in each class group. Marsden is a popular school therefore the number of children within each class is rising but they are still all taught in mixed ability groups.
Our school is a happy place, where the needs of the children are central to every aspect of the school. Our children spend some of the most important years of their life with us and so we recognise it is important to begin as we hope to go on. We recognise the fact that, as a parent, you are an essential partner in the educational process and we place great value on the support we receive from parents in so many different ways. In return, we will support your understanding of the education your child is receiving from us by regularly inviting you into school to discuss his or her progress and to keep you up to date on new ideas and initiatives.
By the time your child is ready to move on to the next phase of education we will have, together, encouraged him or her to have developed a sense of personal value and achievement, and a self-confidence that will carry on to adult life.
