Following their hard work in the run up to Sats, Year Six began their Activities Week with a day at Gibside Estate and what an active day it was! Here are some pictures of what they got up to.
Here are the songs for Year 6 to listen ready for their performance.

The group agreed that this plastic-covered card would be stronger and more eco-friendly as it re-used materials.
In today’s session of Engineering Club, the group were given to challenge to find suitable materials to use as the bodywork for our racing car. They had the option to make it from Correx (manufactured corrugated plastic) or experiment with recyclable materials to make an eco-bodywork.
Here you can see some of the children at work experimenting with a mixture of used cardboard and plastic from large pop bottles.
Year Six have had a busy week taking their Sats.
The class have worked hard with Mrs Watson, Mrs Maddison and Mr O’Brien, supported by Mrs Small and staff from the school to prepare for these important benchmark tests.
During the week, our cook John has prepared some lovely cooked breakfasts for the children each day to help set them up for their tests- ‘an army marches on it’s stomach’. Thank you John.
What better way to finish the week with a French breakfast or ‘Petit dejeuner’.
‘The Pattisserie’, owned by Mrs Lee, did not disappoint us and the children enthusiastically tucked into croissants, pain au chocolat, pain au raisin, tresses, banana and maple syrup bread, fresh fruit, jams, chocolate, caramel and maple sauces. The children also had juice and Chocolat Chaud (Hot Chocolate) to accompany their breakfast.
Every piece of food was eaten and there was no waste at all – Year Six like their food- especially when it was a good at this .
The Nursery wanted to show how proud we were of Year 6 for such a fantastic effort this week. So we went up the corridor with a little treat.
Well done Year 6!
Congratulations to all of last week’s this week’s winners.

On Thursday the weather was drizzly and cold, so in the morning we stayed inside. Our class investigated seashore food chains and learned new key words. We created a mobile in class that showcased what we had learned about food chains.

The rain cleared up, so we walked to the beach and hunted for seashore creatures and plants. We created a tally so that we could remember all of the different types of seaweed we had identified in the rock pools.
After that, we created statues using the flattest rocks that we could find.

On our way home, we had some spare time so played in Laura’s Park for 5 minutes. We all had a lovely day!
Today Year 3 have had a fun filled day. To celebrate finishing our Europe topic we participated in different activities. First this morning we had our class assembly. Everyone spoke clearly and did brilliantly.
After our assembly, Year 3 had a great day exploring foods, flags and even making their own country as part of Europe Day. We made some delicious spaghetti bolognaise
We had a great day and I am very proud of every single child!
We have had an excellent time developing our outdoor environment. Both Year One and Year Two have used some of their playtime to remove the weeds and tidy up the garden. We now have lots of green fingered children!
Lily-Mae: I love it! It’s nice to do some gardening.
Oliver: It was very hard digging out all of the weeds.
Isla: I like doing the garden. We’re allowed to use the tools!
Jay: We have to dig out the weeds or our new plants can’t grow!
