Today, the class was lucky enough to experience Wilderness School@Souter again.
First, Mr O’Brien told the children the story about the fog horn monster.
The children then toasted marshmallows on a fire.
After this, the children made sea monsters out of rocks.
The children particpated in a rock throwing competition and tried to skim rocks across the sea.
We then walked up to the top of Souter lighthouse.
We had a brilliant afternoon competing in the Bart Rippon Cup at Temple Park on Friday afternoon. We even got to enjoy our dinner in the sunshine!
At the beginning of the Spring Term, Mrs Marshall set an exciting challenge. Anyone who has 100% attendance for the Spring and Summer term will be going to the cinema as a reward.
So far all of these children have managed to reach the half way point, congratulations!

Our year four and five children have the privilege of being coached by members of the Newcastle Falcons rugby team; a super experience for them over the next few Wednesdays, where the children will learn rugby skills, teamwork and have fun.
Our Year Four children started a five-session course at Wilderness School. For the next five Thursdays the class will do their maths English and science lessons outside at Souter.
Today the children took part in a treasure hunt using co-ordinates on a map to help locate tokens hidden around the Leas and the lighthouse. The children then make smugglers hats and did some written exercises on co-ordinates. They wrote up their experience of the day when they returned.

We then walked back to school in the rain – but still had a super time.
This week in year 3 we have started our new topic ‘Prehistoric Britain’. To kick start our topic yesterday we visited the beach and took part in a ‘Survival Day’ where we learnt how to survive in the wild .
First we learnt how to build shelters to keep warm. Next we went foraging for food in the rock pools. Then we learnt how to start a fire using fire sticks so we could cook our food.

It was a fun filled day from start to finish.
Today the Morning Nursery Children went on an adventure to meet Crackle the Dragon during our yoga challenge.
The children are very flexible!
To celebrate St. George’s Day, the Afternoon Nursery Session made their own biscuits with the English flag on them.
They were yummy!
💙For all those who have or know people with Autism we have discovered that the Metrocentre has a new scheme going, at each information desk they have a backpack that contains sunglasses, ear defenders, egg times, visual symbols, fidget spinners etc and an orange wristband that allows all staff to be aware that the child/person is autistic. It is a £10 refundable deposit. Also the first Tuesday 10-11 and the first Saturday 9-10 they have a quiet hour where participating shops will reduce lighting sound and tannoy announcements.
