This week, Y6 tried their hand at being heart surgeons! To learn more about the organ for their science topic, the class dissected some animal hearts and looked at how they worked.
A huge thank you to Science Buddies who guided us through this activity.
As part of our science, Year 1 went outside to find evidence of spring and we found lots of new flowers, buds on the trees and even some minibeasts! Back in class, we then thought about how we could help the creatures in our garden and we made some ‘cup bug hotels’ to give them a place to live. We put these in the long grass on our school field. We hope they like their new homes!
For Rad Nose Day and Down’s Syndrome Awareness, Year 1 showed their support by coming to school in non-uniform and odd socks and completed activities throughout the day.
Today Year 5 completed the construction of their bridges and we put them to the test!
The children used all their knowledge from previous sessions about corrugation, lamination and the strength different shapes bring to structures.
All bridges managed to hold over 1kg with some holding nearly 3kg!
Well Done Y5 🙂
Reception had a great day!
Happy Red Nose Day! Year 2 had a fantastic time designing a red nose.
This week saw Year 5 tackle their first netball PE lesson. We focused on the three main passes: chest pass, bounce pass and shoulder pass. Next week we are going to polish up our technique while using these passes and leaning about footwork.
This week in DT, Y5 studies the structure of truss bridges and how they use triangular shapes for strength and stability. We had a go at building our own in pairs and next week we are going to test them by adding weights.
