Y6 had a fantastic day in Upper Teesdale visiting the famous High Force waterfall. The visit provided the children with the opportunity to see their learning come to life having studied rivers this half term in geography. We had a lovely walk starting at Bowlees Visitor Centre before reaching Low Force. There were noticeable gasps as the children came through the trees to see the water cascading over the rocks. After we all safely crossed the historic Wynch Bridge, we continued upstream taking note of the key river features we had learned about in lessons. Finally, we arrived at the main attraction – High Force – where lots of the children were able to recall key facts about the waterfall which really impressed Mrs Wilson!
Y6 attended the Reduce Accidents at Play event at South Shields Fire Station. They participated in a range of activities led by the Fire Service, RNLI, Bikeability, Nexus, Northern Power Grid and South Tyneside Get Active.
The sessions were designed to ensure the children stay safe as they become older, more independent and are more likely to be out in the community unaccompanied. The children had a great afternoon and learned lots of useful information.
Reception strengthened their fine motor skills this week by rolling clay into a hedgehogs body and used scissors to snip spikes into the top of it. We then added a head and some eyes, we all thought our hedgehogs were super cute.
This week Year 2 visited the Life Centre in Newcastle. We had an amazing day and loved every second. On the morning we took part in a space workshop and found out all about being an astronaut. We even made our own space breakfast! On the afternoon we explored the museum and especially enjoyed the Planetarium and the science show!
Year Four enjoyed time for colouring, outdoor time, sketching and yoga in between lessons today. Here is a glimpse of our fantastic yoga positions!
We had a fantastic time exploring the Centre for Life and learning all about our senses!

Our two school football teams kicked off their seasons this week. Both teams represented our school brilliantly and we’re looking forward to the games ahead.
Following on from their history work all about Neil Armstrong and his voyage to the moon, Y2 looked at the footprint he left behind on the moon’s surface. They then predicted which material would leave the best footprint in flour. Following the investigation, the children discovered rubber and plastic left the best print. We then talked about which material would hold a footprint best – soft sand or flour. The children correctly predicted it was the flour.
This week reception have been practising their cutting skills to build their own Scarecrows. We had so much fun making friends for Harry O’Hay and Betty O’Barley from the Scarecrows Wedding.
Reception and Year 6 were very excited to meet their new buddies. We had a lovely afternoon getting to know each other.
