Well done to everyone who joined us for ‘Wake up and shake up’ this week. Key Stage Two started our ‘Healthy Living Week’ by exercising before school on Monday morning with Miss Fyall. Foundation Stage and Key Stage One then continued to work hard during their ‘Wake up and shake up’ on Tuesday morning with Miss Edwards, Ms Gilbert and Mrs Hanratty. A special mention also goes to our fantastic kitchen staff who came to join in the fun too. Well done everyone! Don’t forget to join us for our ‘Bike it breakfast’ on Friday morning.

We are looking to appoint two new lunchtime supervisory assistants.
Closing date – Friday 2nd June
Today, Foundation Stage children have been working hard to spread smiles around the area. We drew happy faces and have stuck them all around the yard and Whitburn.
If you find one we hope it made you smile. Our aim is for our smile to pass around the local area and even further. If you find one, pass it on to make others smile. Pop a comment below to let us know where you found the smile.
Who knows where our smiles will end up!
Today, Year Four were treated to an amazing drama workshop linked to the production of Gangsta Granny! We created our own ‘gangsta’ alter egos and performed Granny-style rap, created freezeframes from the play and improvised our own scenes. Thanks to Stef from the Sunderland Empire for making our afternoon so fun!
Charlie and Nicholas also took part in the Flamingo Land football tournament outside of school and played fantastically well. They faced a number of difficult matches and played well as a team to fight off the competition. Well done boys, I am very impressed with the football talents in year 5!
Year 5 had an amazing time on Tuesday sharing their PE lesson with three members of the U23 squad. Click here to read the full article.
On Monday 15th May 2017 SAFC filmed year 5 in PE for their Youtube channel, promoting the league final match involving the under 23 team. We were lucky enough to meet three players from the team, who interacted with the children and taught them key attacking and defending skills. They even signed our SAFC t-shirts and we thoroughly enjoyed the experience.
Well done to Jasmin and Alex, who were part of the winning team at a football tournament last weekend. The girls were triumphant against a number of teams throughout the country and faced a difficult match in the final but teamwork paid off and the they were overall winners! We are extremely proud of you, well done!![IMG_1829[1]](https://cdn.realsmart.co.uk/f71f77ea8f428aeb5925b93a03881a70/uploads/2017/05/IMG_18291-e1494946395965-300x224.jpg)
Dear Year 6,
Last week you have all completed your SATs for reading, maths, spelling, grammar, and punctuation. We know that you have worked incredibly hard, and we are extremely proud of each and every one of you.
The SATs week has been hanging over you for so long and I know for every child, parent, carer, relative and teacher it is a horrible time. It may feel that ‘everything’ about you hangs on these tests but we want you to know that is not the case. We have 31 unique children making up our 2017 Year 6 class, all offering amazing talents, skills and abilities which can never be measured through a test.
A week away with your friends at Broomley Grange and the memories you are making are just as, if not more important that the tests you have completed. The life skills you will come home with and the new adventures you will share, I hope will allow last week to become just a distant memory that will be forgotten.
So remember that you are amazing, unique, and very special. It has been a privilege to teach you and to watch you grow into the lovely young people we see today.
We would like to say a very well done to you, not just for working so hard this week, but for everything that you are – keep it up.
With very best wishes,
Mrs Marshall and all of the staff at Marsden Primary School
