Hospitality and Hope wanted to say a big thank you for all of the generous donations they received from our Harvest Festival collection.
Here is there letter to you all:
It may have rained but that didn’t dampen our festival. We moved our Harvest Festival to the Hall and enjoyed listening to the true meaning of harvest.
A big thank you to everyone for generously donating food which was gratefully recieved by Hospitality and Hope.
Leadership cited as ‘inspirational’ has helped a South Tyneside school to maintain its ‘good’ Ofsted rating. But headteacher Caroline Marshall was not the only person at Marsden Primary School praised by the education standards inspectorate. Other leaders were identified as having an abundance of ‘resolute’ determination to improve areas that require most attention. Governors were also found to be passionate and committed to the school, displaying a wide range of skills and expertise and ‘robustly’ holding leaders to account.
Inspector Darren Stewart said he found a calm, orderly and respectful atmosphere where pupils benefiting from a broad and balanced curriculum – backed by a wide range of extra-curricular opportunities. In his report, following the first inspection since February 2014, he states: “The leadership team has maintained the good quality of education.” Of Mrs Marshall, he adds: “Your inspirational and determined leadership has strengthened the school community. “You and other leaders are realistic and reflective. This has ensured that your school improvement plan is precise and detailed.
“Governors are passionate and committed to the school. They have a wide range of skills and expertise.” Mr Stewart highlighted the school’s determination to sustain and improve the progress of disadvantaged pupils. He also said clear procedures were in place so that staff knew their responsibilities, with training that allows them to identify early where intervention is needed. Mr Stewart also identified that strong leadership was supported by a standard of teaching that is high quality within the early years.

They said, “We know how special every single child who wears the Marsden badge is, but it is wonderful for somebody to enter our school and recognise the amazing children we have”.
At Marsden Primary School we are very lucky to have lots of good citizens. To celebrate our Citizenship Award, each class nominated one pupil and PC Wilkinson came into school to present our lucky winners with a special prize.
In Foundation Stage and Key Stage One the nominees were:
Aimee Rose, Dylan, Dakota, Sadie and Daniel.
Our lucky winner was Dylan!
In Key Stage Two the nominees were:
Rosie, Oscar, Evan, Alania and Phoebe.
Our lucky winner was Rosie!
We had a great afternoon visiting Whitburn Parish Church to celebrate our Harvest Festival. Mr O’Brien’s choir sang beautifully and all of our children made a special effort to join in with our Harvest hymns. Thank you to all of our fantastic readers, you were very brave to stand up and speak in front of such a large audience! We would also like to thank everyone for their kind donations of tinned foods, tea towels and biscuits. We will be donating our food parcels to ‘Hope and Hospitality’, South Tyneside.
Here are some photographs from our afternoon:
On Monday 15th May 2017 SAFC filmed year 5 in PE for their Youtube channel, promoting the league final match involving the under 23 team. We were lucky enough to meet three players from the team, who interacted with the children and taught them key attacking and defending skills. They even signed our SAFC t-shirts and we thoroughly enjoyed the experience.
An opportunity for children in the area.

This year we have started accessing Whitburn Church of England Academy to deliver some of our Music curriculum and also develop our instrument tuition. To develop this link even further, we welcomed members of the band into our school to hear some amazing instruments and help to get ready for Christmas.
I am sure you will agree, they filled our hall with some amazing music and have definitely got many children thinking about taking up an instrument next term.
Click the pictures to hear the band play.
Well done to all of our children who ran the Great North Run on Sunday.
A special congratulations to Olivia, Isobel, Harvey and Lucie who also raised money for charity.
