Today Jack from Y5 presented us with the most amazing story. What do you think…an author in the making???
Our house team winners this half term are the Green Sea Turtles.
To celebrate their fantastic achievement, the children watched Ice Age 4 and had a brilliant movie afternoon with Mrs O’Brien and Mrs Walker.
Well done Green Sea Turtles!
The Year Six class took part in a visit to Beamish Open Air Museum on Wednesday 11th October. They and their teachers dressed up in 1940’s-style costumes, wore evacuee labels and carried their gas mask boxes with them as they re-enacted experiences of children who were evacuated to the countryside during World War 2. This was part of their curriculum theme ‘ Messages of Conflict’
They visited buildings on the town that would have been around during the 1930’3-1940’s, experienced baking war time biscuits and tried to black-out windows. They even had a go at a Home Guard training drill in case an invasion ever happened. A great big thank-you to all parents and families who helped to get the children dressed and ready to take part in the experience.
We all had a super time and here are some pictures of what we got up to on that super day.
This afternoon, Year Four’s classroom was transformed into an Italian restaurant. Parents and grandparents were welcomed into Pizza Perfecto to sample some Italian foods made by their children in DT lessons. They started with bread and olives and then dined on Pasta a’la Marsden – a sauce made from onions, tomatoes, garlic, basil, parsley and parmesan. The children enjoyed their time being waiters and waitresses but weren’t so keen when sampling the olives!!
Here are Marsden’s first ever Rock Legends of the Week! Well done to Ava, Maisie and Jessica from KS1, Daisy, Autumn and Tristan from LKS2 and Sophie, Nicholas and Deacon from UKS2 for recording the fastest response times this week. Next week we’ll be looking for rockers with the most money banked! Rock on Marsden,
In ‘One Life’ we are learning about how to have happy play times and ways to solve problems independently. We are looking for children who have kind hands, kind words and kind actions.
All of our children have worked very hard this week and it was very difficult to choose our winners.
Our ‘Child of the Week’ winners for Reception and Key Stage One are:
Reception: James
Year One: Lucy
Year Two: Jace
