Meet the latest addition to the afternoon Nursery group, Mr Pumpkin Head!
The children designed, made and named him. He even joined us for story time before home.
On Monday 29th October, Year Six took part in a Humanities Walk into Whitburn as part of their History, Geography and RE studies. They looked at buildings in Whitburn that were in place before and during The Second World War, those which had changed function and at some sites where land had been changed specially for the demands of the war. One such place was the site of the old football ground on Lizard Lane which now has allotments and part of the cemetery on.
The children have also been learning about the features and functions of Churches and had the opportunity to visit our local Parish Church. This helped them to find out about church history- myths and truths. Why not ask your child what they found out? It was very interesting as the whole class paid attention and were extremely well-behaved during the visit. Well done Year Six.

Foundation Stage and Key Stage One have been learning about the importance of good hygiene. Today we were very lucky to receive a visit from Sharon and Lucy, who told us about how important it is to wash our hands after the toilet and after playing with pets or in the mud. We even got to use a special UV light to help us see if we had any germs left on our hands!
Over the term, in geography, Year 2 have explored the world we live in. This included knowing where we live, naming the seven continents and five oceans, as well as finding out interesting facts about them. The children then worked together to make and present a fact board about each continent.
What wonderful work it is!
Year 2 have had an interesting pumpkin week at school. We have looked at how a pumpkin grows, investigated the number of seeds in a pumpkin, made pumpkin pastel pictures and hanging pumpkins. After reading Winnie’s Amazing Pumpkin, we decided to make pumpkin pie too!
Today, Year Six were lucky enough to take part in the Monozukuri Caravan event at Nissan. The children competed in a Lego production line competition, raced model F1 cars, tried their hand at using factory tools and found out lots about the car manufacturing industry. I’m sure we have one or two future engineers and technicians in the making! Prior to the event, the children were asked to design a new logo for the event and the well-deserved winners were Ella and Finlay. Runners up were Ruby and Emily M. Two lucky children also received a very special message from a Nissan robot! All children were rewarded for excellent participation with delicious cookies and a goodie bag! The Nursery children who stay all day made some spooktacular biscuits in the shape of bats, ghosts and many other Halloween themed objects.
We made them in the morning, took them to the kitchen to bake and then decorated them in the afternoon.
They tasted great and we even got to lick the spoon!!!
