In ‘One Life’ we are learning about how to have happy play times and ways to solve problems independently. We are looking for children who have kind hands, kind words and kind actions.
All of our children have worked very hard this week and it was very difficult to choose our winners.

In History, Year One have been writing questions to find out how school and life has changed. To help us answer our questions, Molly’s Nanna and Grandad came into school and shared lots of stories about their lives with us. They also brought photographs in to show us how life has changed. We had a fantastic time and we now know lots of information about how school has changed.

In Year One we have have had lots of fun learning about our senses this week. We had a very important job and had to take on the role of ‘sense detectives’ outside. We also had lots of fun exploring our senses in the classroom. Can you guess which sense we are using?
This week we had a special visit from Bri, a firefighter from Tyne & Wear Fire and Rescue Service. He helped the children understand about fire safety at home, in the past and today. We were very interested in everything he told us and loved meeting the new firefighter Jessica!
We loved seeing Riley’s wooden aeroplane in Year 2. What a talented carpenter he is!
Following on from our discovery of Mondrian, Year 2 children created their own Mondrian style pictures at home. They all look fabulous and make our classroom look very colourful.
In Year One we have been talking about why it is important to be proud of ourselves. For homework we were asked to think about something that we are proud and we have shared our stories during circle time this week. Here are some of the things that we are proud of:

In Year 2, we have begun to explore colour. We have found out that Mondrian liked to use primary colours to create his abstract art. We created our own Modrian pictures by drawing both on the computer and with the colouring equipment, as well as using collage. We love our abstract art!
In Year One our topic this term is ‘Marvellous Me!’ We have had lots of fun getting to know our new classroom and learning about our new routines. As part of our topic, the children have been thinking about what they would like to be when they grow up. Everyone produced an excellent piece of writing and our futures look very promising as we have lots of aspiring builders, policemen, vets, teachers, hairdressers, engineers and bus drivers. We can’t wait to see what the future holds!
Year Two have had a great first week and enjoyed reading the story Silly Billy by Anthony Browne. We produced some lovely writing about the story and made our very own worry dolls, just like Billy. What amazing work it was!
