As part of Odd Sock Day we talked about how we are all unique and we loved wearing unique odd socks!
To finish off our study of Marsden, the children drew maps to show Paddington how to get to Souter Lighthouse from our school. I think they are superb!
It was definitely Maisie’s lucky day today as she won the Y1 raffle!
Well done to Maisie
In Year 1 we have been exploring pumpkins so we can tell Professor Klunk all about them. First we thought about what a pumpkin looks like, feels like, smells like and even tastes like. To help us do that we cut open some pumpkins to see, smell and feel them and of course we collected all the seeds out of them! We also tasted some raw pumpkin and then we made some of the pumpkin into pumpkin soup which was delicious!
We have used the words from our exploration of pumpkins to write information sentences and we then found out how pumpkins grow. To finish off our work on pumpkins, we did some pumpkin crafts.
I think Year 1 are now pumpkin experts!
This morning Year 2 performed their class assembly on “The Great Explorers” They were amazing and it was a brilliant performance.
In Year 2 we had a brilliant day celebrating World Mental Health Day. The children created their own worry monsters and painted them on the afternoon.
To mark mental health day, Year 1 came to school in their colourful clothes.
Across the day, we enjoyed making worry monsters to take any worries away and. Everyone also talked about and drew ten things they love as these are the things that make us happy!
The children in Year 1 have had a great first few weeks in their new class and everyone has been very busy.
We have explored our feelings through the story Silly Billy and wrote our own Silly Billy stories which we shared with our friends in Reception. Then this week, we have had special messages from Professor Klunk who has been giving us ‘quests’ to complete in our English time. We are excited to find out what he wants us to do next.
We are learning about the features of our Marsden area in geography and we even have a new bear – Paddington – to help us with this learning. We took him to the windmill and he loved it! Now, we are trying to make our own windmills in class.
We are developing our number knowledge and we made some alligators to help us identify the greater number this week.
We are also investigating all about animals in science and we know not all animals are the same.
It really has been a busy time!
