We have had a very interesting week in Year 2 exploring pumpkins.

We began the week reading Winnie’s Amazing Pumpkin.

Then we found out about how a pumpkin grows. There are so many different shapes and sizes so we decided to investigate: does the biggest pumpkin have the most seeds? The children counted hundreds of seeds from four different pumpkins and showed excellent teamwork. The result was … the largest pumpkin did have the most seeds!

To make use of all the pumpkin, we made Winnie’s Pumpkin Soup. All the children showed super chopping skills and the soup was delicious. Lots of children are now going to make it at home!
