24th April 2020C Edwards

Although we are unsure whether the Great North Run will go ahead this year, the Great North Run Company are continuing their Mini and Junior run t-shirt competition and entries are welcomed from all pupils!

To enter:
1) Think about what you would like your t-shirt to look like.
2) Choose three colours – these are the only colours that you are allowed to use!
3) Use either the template provided, or plain paper, to design your own t-shirt for the Mini and Junior Great North Run.
4) Include your name and school at the bottom of your piece of paper.
5) E-mail a photograph or scan your design and e-mail it to [email protected] by 12pm on Tuesday 19th May 2020.

I will then e-mail them on so that they can be entered into the competition!

The design template is included below if you would like to use it, however you can also use plain paper.

It can be really hard trying to think of different ways to stay active at home, especially as we’re limited to one hour of outdoor exercise time each day.

Tyne and Wear Sports have created a website which has lots of ideas for keeping active; both inside and outside and best of all it’s free!

The website has links to Disney dance routines, free online platforms and lots of other great ideas and resources too.

Spelling Superstars!

22nd April 2020S Hume

While you’ve been safe at home, I’ve been keeping a close eye on the Spelling Shed scores and it’s been great to see all the game playing!

Year 6 have managed to overtake Year 3 recently, and are our current top spelling year group. Well done Year 6!

There are lots of new names appearing on the the playing boards which is fantastic and our current super spellers are:

Y2- Dylan, Scarlett and Georgie

Y3/4- Anya, Layton and Jayden R

Y5/6- Oscar S, Harvey and Ruby

As a reward for the excellent spelling work, I’ve given our current super spellers a honey pot reward on their account. Well done!

Who will get the honey pot rewards next week?

As an extra challenge, I’ve set up a school spelling contest which everyone with a login can access on their Spelling Shed home screen. The contest covers some common homophones and will be available from tomorrow for one week. The top five spellers in this contest will also receive a honey pot reward next week … so get spelling everyone!

‘ThinkuKnow’ E-Safety

22nd April 2020C Edwards

Due to the current climate, we are all spending increasing amounts of time online, whether it be for home schooling, contacting relatives or friends or accessing social media.

To help protect children both online and offline, Northumbria Police would like to highlight their free ‘ThinkuKnow’ online safety programme, which is designed to help children of all ages stay safe online.

The programme is separated into different categories and targets different age groups. There are also resources for parents and carers which could assist home learning.

To access the ‘ThinkuKnow’ programme and resources, click here.

Look at recycling in your house. What do we recycle?

Can you play some recycling games at home?

http://www.suffolkschoolsrecycling.org.uk/Kids/Fun-and-Games

Challenge: Can you recycle something and make something new?

Try this: Can you make a bird house from a shoe box?
