This week we have been learning about ‘Friendship’ in Foundation Stage. We shared the story ‘My Friend Bear’ by Jez Alborough and we talked about what it means to be a good friend. This week, Robbie was nominated for ‘Child of the Week’ by his Reception peers as he has been a very kind, caring friend.
In Reception, we are working hard to develop the muscles in our fingers, hands, arms and shoulders. Did you know that this helps us to grip a pencil and to form our letter shapes correctly? We have enjoyed our ‘funky fingers’ by dancing to music, practicing our air writing and taking part in dough disco too.
What is your favourite song to dance to?
The following links contain support and advice for families and young people. The coronavirus outbreak is leading to big changes in the way we live our everyday lives. Our relationships will be hugely important for getting us through this but self-isolation, social distancing and other concerns may also place them under added pressure.

Our special Word of the Week in EYFS is “Family”.
Willow has requested a story about bears and love so this fits in perfectly with our Word of the Week.
Hope you enjoy!
To start the year, EYFS explored making our own portraits. First, we looked in mirrors to see what our faces looked like and then we drew and painted representations.
Our perfect Picassos!
We can’t wait to see what next week will bring!
We’ve had another amazing first day in Reception. It was lovely to see so many smiling faces this morning! We’ve explored our new learning environment, played outside and ate a delicious school dinner too!

We have had a brilliant first day in Reception today. We’ve worked in the gluing and construction areas, explored outside and ate a delicious dinner too. We can’t wait to see what tomorrow brings!
Here is one of our favourite EYFS stories, “Monkey Puzzle” by Julia Donaldson!
Just a reminder that there are still time slots available for the EYFS Open Day on Thursday 3rd September.
On the day, you will enter school through the staff car park and wait in the Foundation Stage garden until a member of staff brings you into the classroom where hand sanitiser will be available.
For everyone’s safety, please maintain 2m apart from other families and staff.
To ensure that everyone has the chance to access the day safely, time slots will be 10 minutes each.
If you are unable to attend the day or have any further queries after your visit, you can contact me at [email protected]
