Some of our Key Stage Two children have had a fantastic morning at Silksworth Tennis Centre participating in an Inclusive Tennis workshop.
Year 5 have been learning about ‘Dance by Chance’, inspired by the choreographer Merce Cunningham. We have been learning about actions, rhythm and space and used this as inspiration to create and perform our own dance routines.
Our Year 6 Sports Leaders have started their extra-curricular club with Year 2. Amelie, Amelia, Scarlett, Finlay and Matthew are encouraging children to be more active and started the term with a game of ‘Squeeze’.
As part of our invasion games topic this half term, Years 3 and 4 have developed their teamwork and communication skills. Both classes have worked hard to develop their throwing and catching, attacking and defending skills in a range of team games and have also looked at different ways to move with a ball.
Funky Fingers Club had a fantastic time for their first meeting. In these sessions, we are developing our fine motor and gross motor skills through a variety of activities.
This week, we warmed up with a little dough disco before focusing on our balancing skills outside. We finished the session with a flipper flapper workout!
Stay tuned to see what we get up to next week!
Our two school football teams kicked off their seasons this week. Both teams represented our school brilliantly and we’re looking forward to the games ahead.
Nursery had a fantastic PE session today practising our throwing and catching skills using balloons. We tried to keep them in the air for as long as possible. We then applied these skills to using beanbags.
Staff were so proud of how independent the children were when getting ready for PE. Another skill we have encouraged the children to practise at home as well.
