Warning! There’s a Chinese Lion loose in the Nursery!
The children enjoyed taking part in the traditional dance and also joined in with percussion instruments to create the beat for the creature to dance to.
Last week, Reception made the journey to Temple Park to take part in a multiskills games festival. The children had a great time and were perfect representives of Marsden.
To start our latest topic of Chinese New Year, the Nursery children looked at objects associated with the Chinese culture.
We learned some new vocabulary and why red is important.
In the Foundation Stage we are experts at reusing and recycling. We can turn pots and pans into musical instruments, old rolls of wallpaper can be used to encourage mark making and toys that the older children no longer use could provide the younger children with valuable learning opportunities.
That is why we ask you to think of us before you throw things away. Some of the resources we could use are:
Rolls of wallpaper
Wooden and metal utensils (pots/pans/whisks/colanders etc.)
Jigsaws
Boys role play costumes
Tubes
Book
Gardening Tools
If you are unsure on whether we could use an item, please ask a member of the Foundation Stage Team for guidance.
Thank you for your help and continued support.
Not everyone was feeling glum about the holidays ending as the Nursery children know they always have a great time learning and exploring at school.
Here are some pictures of the fun we have been having.
This week, Year Six have been busy writing their own versions of the poem ‘Twas the Night Before Christmas’. They made these into books and took them along to read to their friends in Reception. The younger pupils were delighted to be given the handmade books to take home as a gift!
A great time was had by all at the Christmas party. We even received a special visit from Santa 🎅
Wow! I’m at a loss for words for just how fantastic the children were in their performance of Beauty and the Beast. Everyone worked so hard and put on such a professional show.
A big thank you for all the effort that parents put into making the costumes. It really helped create the right atmosphere.
While the rest of the school attended the Christingle Service, the Nursery children who attend all day created Frostie!
We worked as a team to make him and talked about what would happen if the sun appeared.
Meet the latest addition to the afternoon Nursery group, Mr Pumpkin Head!
The children designed, made and named him. He even joined us for story time before home.
