Foundation Stage have had a brilliant ‘Christmas Craft’ day. We made stockings, gingerbread men and took part in lots of other Christmas activities too.
Staff and children were so puzzled when they arrived see that the unit had been completely decorated by mystery helpers.
We asked Mr Payne to check the CCTV and this is what we found…..
Today, Nursery received a message from Prince Charming. He explained that whoever had a foot which measured 12 cubes longs could come and live in his castle. The children discussed what we could do to see if their feet measured 12 cubes and we decided to draw around our foot and then use the cubes to measure the footprint. We couldn’t find anyone until the children measured my foot! Lucky me ☺️
Excellent problem solving, counting and measuring from all! 😁
Today, the children came in with odd socks on to support anti-bullying week.
Foundation Stage have had lots of fun celebrating ‘Children in Need’. We exercised our bodies as part of ‘The Big Move’ with Pudsey Bear and we also got to do lots of Pudsey activities.
Moving on from ‘Squiggle While You Wiggle’ in Nursery, Reception have been developing their fine and gross motor skills using ‘Dough Disco’. We love to use the play-doh to exercise our fingers!
We’re definitely ready for writing now!
Today EYFS were looking at how important the poppy was and why we will be wearing them. We made some yummy poppy biscuits using icing sugar and chocolate buttons.
This week in challenge time, the Nursery children have been exploring colour mixing outside using powder paints to create their own fireworks. We used a variety of brushes to mix the colours together which helps to develop our dexterity and manipulation skills.
We had a fantastic time!
In Nursery, one of our favourite activities is “Squiggle While You Wiggle”.
Squiggle While You Wiggle is a kinaesthetic approach to stimulate early writing. Children use movement with music to develop their motor skills in preparation for writing.
Check out our latest spooky squiggle where we use lines and circles to make spiders.
