EYFS had a lovely time taking part in our little movers dance week. They all brought their best moves and showed us just how good they really all are at dancing. Well done EYFS!

Following on from our terrific team work last week to make a scarecrow, EYFS joined forces again to make so tasty Harvest Soup. They children took turns to chop up all the vegetables, shared resources and we cooked it together in class. Once the soup was blended, we all had a taste and gave it a thumbs up or down. It was very popular 😃
This week, EYFS discovered the importance of working as a team. We designed some scarecrows as part of our Magic Monday session and then through the week we jumped into action to make a real scarecrow.
Keep your eyes peeled for the end result which will be displayed alongside the other scarecrows created by the other classes.
EYFS had a lovely visit from the hand washing and oral hygiene nurses. They showed us how to correctly brush our teeth and wash our hands to protect us from invisible germs. It was a lovely afternoon and we have all been singing our hand washing song when washing our hands.
This week, EYFS shared the story of “The Little Red Hen” who made some bread all by herself. We started to wonder what her bread looked, smelled and tasted like so we bought a range of different types of breads to try. The children sampled panini, wraps, pittas, baguettes, tiger bread, bagels and muffins. After tasting the breads, the children gave the bread a thumbs up or thumbs down.
The staff were very impressed with the vocabulary the children used to describe the breads and were so proud that they were willing to try new foods!
This week the children in Reception have been using their balance and coordination skills to explore our trim trail. They have independently climbed, balanced and moved along our outdoor equipment. We have been very impressed by the children’s confidence and determination when tackling tricky parts of the trail. It was lovely to see the children helping each other and shouting words of encouragement to their friends.
Well done Reception!
Nursery have loved exploring different ways to make marks this week. The children used the shaving foam to make different patterns with their fingers. We heard some lovely language to describe their marks such as zig-zag and swirls!
This week in Nursery, we have been talking all about our families. After a lovely circle time sharing photographs of our families, we wrote a list of the people in our family.
Mrs Elliott and I were incredibly impressed with the fantastic effort the children made with their first mark making activity 🙂
Today, Nursery remembered our gracious Queen Elizabeth II by sharing a story together called “The Queen’s Hat”. We talked about how special she was and her memory will be cherished by all for many years to come.
Here is a short animation based on the book to share at home.
What a fantastic first day EYFS have had! We have explored our environment, shared news, made new friendships, worked hard and, more importantly, had lots of FUN!
