Even the rain couldn’t stop us from celebrating this special occasion!
EYFS have had a brilliant day celebrating the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee! We had a special party, enjoyed our picnic outside and took part in lots of jubilee activities.
Year Five have had a brilliant day celebrating the Queen’s 70th Jubilee. We thought about what we would do if we were King or Queen for the day. Everyone had brilliant ideas about how we can improve the country and do some good. After hearing everyone’s speeches we decided that Sophie M and James were our class King and Queen.
We also had great fun creating Andy Wahol inspired Art and decorated cupcakes.
Year 4 had a fantastic day with the Bikeability team. Having talked about the preparations to stay safe before getting on their bikes, the children then undertook lots of different tasks to improve their cycling skills.
Great work everyone!
Year 5 had an interesting visitor from a beekeeper today! Mrs Brown told us all the bees she keeps and about the different jobs bees have within a hive. We realised how special and clever they are! We even tasted some honey which was delicious!
This week we have had our hall transformed into the most amazing Art Gallery.
Every child contributed two pieces to the collection, consisting of a 2D creation and a 3D creation. I think we can all agree that the children have excelled themselves and should be very proud.
Thank you to all of the parents and family who came to share our children’s wonderful work.
Here is Under the Sea by our EYFS pupils, signed in British Sign Language:
“I visited your Art Gallery and was so impressed with the work the children had produced. The video of Early Years really made me smile, and it was a lovely experience to watch it underneath the tentacles of the jellyfish. I absolutely loved the Lilies by Year 5, they were so impactful. And Year 2’s designer plates would grace any table! Well done to all of the children for their hard work, and to the staff for putting on such a lovely display.” Amanda Hayward (Governor)
Here are some photographs of the event:
The EYFS children heard that Souter Lighthouse needed some help. With the weather becoming sunnier, they were I need need of some books for families to enjoy while visiting. As the children love reading so much, we knew we had to walk straight down with a selection of books.
We even managed a sneaky visit to Laura’s park on the way home! ☺️
Well done to our chosen children this week.
