Today Wayne and Rob, from the Red Bench Project, came to collect their £900 cheque – they were so grateful to the whole school community and know the money will make a huge difference.
Thank you
Today we wished Mrs Wilson the Best of Luck as she starts her maternity leave. We will miss her so much but look forward to meeting her beautiful new baby
Congratulations to our winners!
On Wednesday, the Navy came to talk to Y5 and Y6 about their role and how they help people. They helped us to build our own flares before giving us the chance to watch them take off with tremendous speed!
This week, Y6 tried their hand at being heart surgeons! To learn more about the organ for their science topic, the class dissected some sheep hearts and looked at how they worked.
This week is World Mental Health Week. In Year 2 we have been talking about what makes us feel good and what can improve our mental health. With this in mind we have completed Yoga and a mindfulness colouring session whilst listening to calming music.
Year 5 travelled back in time to consolidate their learning on the Anglo-Saxons and learn more about the Viking invasion. We gathered by the fire to listen to a retelling of the epic poem Beowulf, took part in burial rituals and ended our day with a brutal battle.
This half term, Y5 have been learning about forces and carried out investigations to test air resistance.
Our first investigation involved letting a crumpled piece of paper fall and flat piece of paper fall to see if one was quicker than the other. We discovered that the flat piece glided down as it had more air resistance.
Our second investigation saw us making paper helicopters: one large one and one small one. We timed how long they took to reach the floor.
