The theme for this years challenge is Record Breakers and there are some fabulous prizes to be won by participating.Staff from the OPENZONE have collaborated with the library staff to create a promotional video for the children in our schools and will also be running some summer school robot sessions in local libraries.
Year 6 welcomed an ex-pupil of Marsden Primary , Peter Talbot, who talked to them about his expeditions to Antarctica. The children were fascinated to learn about the area, see the equipment he used and hear of his experiences.

A team of our year 4 children recently entered the Mathstemind Challenge against primary schools in South Tyneside and won the competition!

This week our Year 4 and Year 5 pupils have been receiving training on how to ride a bike safely.They have spent time learning the basic skills in the school grounds and then the Year 5 children have been supervised whilst learning to cycle in streets close to the school.
We have just been awarded the “Silver Quality Mark“ for good subject leadership, raising the profile of languages and improving the quality of teaching and learning,enabling most children to make consistently good progress throughout Key Stage 2.

Abjat-sur-Bamdiat Ecole Primaire
We have recently made a link with a primary school in Abjat-sur-Bandiat in the North Dordogne in France. This school is in complete contrast to Marsden Primary as there are only two classes with 50 children in total. The school is in a rural village which has a total population of 641.Our children will be corresponding with pupils from this school from September 2015 to learn more about the French culture and language.
Our Bike it Breakfast was a huge success with over 80 pupils, parents and carers taking part. My thanks to Miss Gilbert and all the staff who helped make this such a success. Well done everyone!
