Congratulations to Jessica (Foundation Stage) and Keira (Year 5) for winning the school citizenship award. This term we were looking for children who are good role models to their peers. This award was presented by two officers who serve in the community.

To help everyone learn the music for the KS2 Christmas production I have uploaded the music for you to learn.
Year 1 have been getting creative with some seasonal art work. They collected fallen leaves from around the school grounds to make these fantastic trees.
They look brilliant Year 1, well done!
In Year 3, we have been practising greeting each other in French. The children have been practising a short exchange of a greeting, their name and age.
I am really proud of their developing accents!

As part of our aim to promote a love of reading, we are currently hosting a book fair. It will be with us all week and the first week back after the half term holiday. Come along and see the fantastic range available.
In literacy, Year 5 have been reading “The Highwayman” Poem by Alfred Noyes. We recreated scenes from the poem and then used Comic Life software to add dialogue and what the characters would be thinking.

Linked to their current history topic of Ancient Greece, Year 6 have made some pots. They started by looking at examples of common patterns used in Greek pottery and then planned their own.
The finished results were very impressive
Year 1 have been reading The Princess and the Pea in literacy. They have been working hard and produced excellent work. We discussed adjectives about what a REAL princess would look like and made fantastic wanted posters.
Yesterday, we held our annual harvest festival. Like every year, we were overwhelmed by the generosity of the families of Marsden.
The children entertained senior citizens from the community with their fantastic singing, making the Staff very proud. We would like to thank everyone who attended the festival as well as all the children who took part.
All of the senior citizens who attended the festival were given a food parcel and the additional donations went to a local food bank.
The Key Project is a charity based in South Shields who help out young people in the community.

In P.E., Year 5 have been improving their tennis skills. They have focused on improving their aim and control of the ball.
