For two nights, the parents’ of Marsden have been dazzled and entertained by the children of Key Stage 2. Every child was amazing. We are extremely proud of all the children.
Also, a big thank you to all the parents for supporting the children over the two nights.
The hard work paid off!
We have had such an exciting day. The children all looked so festive this morning, wearing their jumpers, hats and Christmas accessories. Throughout the day, all of the children have enjoyed learning new skills and creating their own items to celebrate Christmas. We have had a wide range of activities from cooking Christmas cakes, marbling, making Chrisingles, to a variety of painting and drawing activities.
Today we also had the chance to share our special Christmas dinner as a school, with the team in the kitchen working so hard to ensure everyone had the best meal ever.
We can all feel Christmas coming – the excitement is building!!!!
Our very first toy fair was a great success.
Everybody was so generous with both the donations they made, as well as the money they brought to spend. We raised £424.00 which was amazing in just one afternoon. The children all loved having the chance to choose the toys they wanted and the Year 6 children demonstrated their skills behind the stalls. A big thank you to the parents who helped, we really appreciate the time you gave up.
We are already making plans for the summer fair – bigger and better!
On Wednesday 25th November, Year Two took part in a mini tennis festival at Temple Park. All the children worked in groups, with coaches, to improve different tennis skills.
Year Two children enjoyed a visit from Kevin and Kevin, from Smooth Radio, on Monday 2nd November. This was in conjunction with Northumbria Water.
The children were shown the importance of being careful about what we put down our drains. They made Dwain “The Drain” Pipe magnets, with three children winning goodie bags for their designs.
On Tuesday 17th November, Year 5 visited Monkwearmouth Station Museum to attend a Travel in the Past Workshop. We found out all about the expansion of the railway system in our area and about local engineers who helped build it. We enjoyed trying to work out the mystery objects were and how they were used by the Victorians as they travelled by train.
To help everyone learn the music for the KS1 Christmas production I have uploaded the music for you to learn.
Next Friday we have planned our very first Toy Fair to raise money for school funds. With a week to go, we have had a few donations, but nowhere near the amount we are are going to need. Please, please, please spend this weekend having a look through your toy cupboards and if you have anything you no longer play with, please bring it to school ready for the sale.
I know you will rise to the challenge and look forward to next Friday.
On Friday 13th November, Marsden Primary School showed their spots to support the worth charity of Children in Need.
We raised £250 which we were all very proud of.
Thank you for your support.
A big thank you to everybody who donated shoe boxes to Operation Christmas Child. As a school, we managed to send 32 boxes.
