This Sunday our Choir and the ‘Sing-a-long-a -ding-dong’ group celebrated Family Service at Whitburn parish Church.
The sound was absolutely wonderful and the whole parish were amazed by the sound.
This term Year 6 have been working together on their topic ‘Messages of conflict’ and some of their work is now on display in Church.

As part of our ‘Once Upon a Time’ topic Year One had lots of fun learning about the story ‘When The Dragons Came’ by Naomi Kefford and Lynne Moore. The children chose to learn about this book and we were very busy designing our own front covers and making our own dragons. We also got to share our favourite stories with our Year Five buddies. The whole day was fantastic and we can’t wait for next year!
Year 3 had a great day celebrating World Book Day. Everyone had amazing costumes! We looked at The Famous Five’s Half Term Adventure. We created new book covers for some of the older Famous Five books and had our own Famous Five picnic. One of our favourite parts of the day was sharing books with Nursery children.
To celebrate world book day, the children in the Foundation Stage took party in activities based around the story of “Alice in Wonderland”. We baked jam tarts, had a Mad Hatter’s tea party (wearing our own hats that we had made) and created our own Wonderlands using different materials.
One of the highlights of the day was sharing a story with a Year 3 friend. The children loved hearing the children reading some of their favourite stories to them.
That children (and the staff) had a fantastic day!
Year Four had lots of fun today! The costumes were amazing and the children really got into character! We made Swallows and Amazons themed board games and tried them out with the children from Reception!

Today, all of the adults enjoyed a fantastic World Book Day, taking on the characters from the story of Alice in Wonderland.
Thanks to our kitchen staff who managed to create some amazing desserts to get into the theme of the day.

The parents and community at Marsden have surpassed themselves with their generosity.
As you know, we asked for book donations towards our new library rather than a donation and we have been amazed.
Today we received 516 books…..we are staggered by the response and so thankful to everyone.
As part of our celebrations for World Books Day, we contacted Waterstones in Sunderland and asked if we could exchange the whole school’s £1.00 World Book Day vouchers for the books that are released for this day. The staff could not have been more helpful and the children have all enjoyed having a chance to choose their own book to take home.

This year we have been very lucky at Marsden to get a sponsor for our football kits.
MTS plastering have purchased some wonderful equipment to support our team and we look forward to showing off our new strips at the match tonight.

Yesterday, Nursery and Reception class made some delicious pancakes from scratch. The children looked at the ingredients needed as well as the equipment they would be using. Once the children had mixed the batter together, we cooked them in the pan. We really enjoyed watching them flip up into the air.
Not to forget the important part, eating them! The children took their pancake to the topping station so they could make their treat extra tasty.
