In Year 2, we have begun to explore colour. We have found out that Mondrian liked to use primary colours to create his abstract art. We created our own Modrian pictures by drawing both on the computer and with the colouring equipment, as well as using collage. We love our abstract art!
Our first job this year was the VERY important decision of who would lead our four houses to victory this year.
The Year 6 children all stepped up to the task and wrote some amazing speeches to convince the rest of KS2 to vote for them.
So, we are very proud to announce that are new Captains and Vice Captains are:
As part of our Mamma Mia topic, Year Four sampled some Italian delicacies – risotto, prosciutto, focaccia, pepperoni and tortellini. Every child tasted something and the responses were overwhelmingly positive! Over the next few week, we will be designing our own Italian dishes and, at the end of the unit, we hope to invite parents in to taste our dishes!
In Year One our topic this term is ‘Marvellous Me!’ We have had lots of fun getting to know our new classroom and learning about our new routines. As part of our topic, the children have been thinking about what they would like to be when they grow up. Everyone produced an excellent piece of writing and our futures look very promising as we have lots of aspiring builders, policemen, vets, teachers, hairdressers, engineers and bus drivers. We can’t wait to see what the future holds!
What a fantastic week we have had in the Foundation Stage. The children have explored the learning environment and new enjoyed making new friends.
Here are some photographs of our amazing children during their first week.
Year Two have had a great first week and enjoyed reading the story Silly Billy by Anthony Browne. We produced some lovely writing about the story and made our very own worry dolls, just like Billy. What amazing work it was!
Hope you have had all had an amazing summer and are looking forward to returning to school!!
Just a reminder that MONDAY 4TH SEPTEMBER is an INSET day, so children will be welcomed back on Tuesday 5th September.
See you then
Thank you so so much for all of the kind gifts and well wishes. All of the staff at marsden, children and parents have been so generous and I am totally overwhelmed by my amazing gifts. My year 5 class were very good at keeping a secret for two weeks, Miss Clark successfully dug out old pictures and Mrs Marshall excelled herself in the assembly. I look forward to returning to school as Mrs Carr in September and thank you all again for everything you have done. Marsden Primary School truly is extra special.
