This week we had a special visit from Bri, a firefighter from Tyne & Wear Fire and Rescue Service. He helped the children understand about fire safety at home, in the past and today. We were very interested in everything he told us and loved meeting the new firefighter Jessica!
We loved seeing Riley’s wooden aeroplane in Year 2. What a talented carpenter he is!
Following on from our discovery of Mondrian, Year 2 children created their own Mondrian style pictures at home. They all look fabulous and make our classroom look very colourful.
This afternoon, Year Four children had a master class in pizza making from school chef, John, who gave up his own time to teach us. We found out how to make, knead and shape dough and even had a go at throwing it! We added homemade marinara sauce and our favourite toppings to our individual pizzas and are now eagerly awaiting them to be cooked, ready to take home tomorrow. We hope to keep practising our cookery skills over the next few weeks in preparation for our pop up restaurant, which will take over the Y4 classroom! Mmmmmmm!
In Year One we have been talking about why it is important to be proud of ourselves. For homework we were asked to think about something that we are proud and we have shared our stories during circle time this week. Here are some of the things that we are proud of:
I am a very proud teacher!
Congratulations to the all the children who were nominated by their class to represent them in meetings. They have the important job of thinking of ways we can improve the school and help to fund raise.

We can’t wait to hear all of your exciting ideas!
Wanted: Tree-planting volunteers to help the school establish a wildlife area that may in time become a small woodland.
We began planting shrubs on the northern edge of the school field this spring in the hope of creating a wildlife area. We are now ready to expand this project.
The school has on order for delivery in November 150+ tree and bush saplings.
We need volunteers (with their own garden spades) TO HELP US TO PREPARE THE HOLES AND PLANT some of the trees with the children.
We would like to do this on the morning of WEDNESDAY 22ND NOVEMBER.
Anyone with green fingers should leave their names at the school office for this.
We are also collecting plastic water bottles (we need 200) to protect the saplings from rabbits. If anyone can help with this then please let us know.
