Evan from Year 4 brought to school the most amazing family treasure to share with his class. These medals belonged to his Great Grandfather and represent the amazing way he battled for our country to gave us the freedom we all enjoy today.

On Monday 13th of November we celebrated Remembrance Day. Our Year 6 held a special Remembrance Day Assembly to remember those who sacrificed our lives for us.
At lunchtime our fantastic kitchen staff made us a traditional English dinner. Yum!
Year 5 and 6 thoroughly enjoyed the visit from Gareth P. Jones, he was extremely entertaining and Mr O’Brien loved the beat boxing!

The Year Six class took part in a visit to Beamish Open Air Museum on Wednesday 11th October. They and their teachers dressed up in 1940’s-style costumes, wore evacuee labels and carried their gas mask boxes with them as they re-enacted experiences of children who were evacuated to the countryside during World War 2. This was part of their curriculum theme ‘ Messages of Conflict’
They visited buildings on the town that would have been around during the 1930’3-1940’s, experienced baking war time biscuits and tried to black-out windows. They even had a go at a Home Guard training drill in case an invasion ever happened. A great big thank-you to all parents and families who helped to get the children dressed and ready to take part in the experience.
We all had a super time and here are some pictures of what we got up to on that super day.
This afternoon, Year Four’s classroom was transformed into an Italian restaurant. Parents and grandparents were welcomed into Pizza Perfecto to sample some Italian foods made by their children in DT lessons. They started with bread and olives and then dined on Pasta a’la Marsden – a sauce made from onions, tomatoes, garlic, basil, parsley and parmesan. The children enjoyed their time being waiters and waitresses but weren’t so keen when sampling the olives!!
