In Year 2 this week we have been exploring Children’s Mental Health Week. Everyone has created their own confidence cup. We had a discussion about how nice it feels when we give compliments to others and chose different people in the class to share a compliments with to fill up our cup.
We also all love completing finger breathing and yoga.
Children’s Mental Health Week is a special time to shine a light on the importance of young peoples emotional wellbeing. This years theme is “This is my place” it focuses on belonging- helping children feel safe, valued and connected to the places that matter to them.
This week in class the children have been taking part in discussions and completing different activities linked to belonging and explored them in a creative way. 
In Year 2 today we have been finding out about internet safety day. We watched Chicken Clicking, a story all about a chicken who hadn’t been using the internet safely. the children were fantastic and offered great advice.
Year 2 loved had a fantastic morning last week with Lydia in from Groundworks. We created our own plant pots out of plastic bottles and are looking forward to planting in the spring. This linked in perfectly with our PSHE theme of “Reduce, Reuse and Recycle”.

We have 4 fantastic Year 6 Sports Leaders who have been started running a playtime club with Year 2. We had lots of fun and are looking forward to next week.
Year 2 have been having great fun using the Beebots this week. We have been learning about how to create a route.
In geography, we have been learning about the UK and this week we learned all about Scotland. We found out some interesting facts about this country. We tried eating some haggis and even had a visit from Mrs Hume so she could tell us all about what it was like growing up in Scotland. She even made some Scottish tablet and shortbread for us to eat too. It was delicious!
Y5 have been exploring how Christians believe that God is a creator and we read up about the creation story. We wanted to share this with Y2 so we made an interactive wheel to show them what Christians believe.
In Computing we have started looking at algorithms. This week the children had to give instructions to their partner to move across the grid to retrieve the bear. It was great fun!
