Year 2 had a fantastic time exploring Polar Habitats. We have been finding out how Polar animals stay warm by having thick layers of fat. We tested this by wrapping one hand in fat and dipping both in freezing water to see which hand stayed warmest. It was brilliant fun!
Thank you to everyone for helping making World Book Day such fun!
One of the best parts of World Book Day is being able to share our love of reading with other classes.
Y2 and Y5 had a lovely afternoon discussing stories, reading and listening to each other read!
Year 1 enjoyed a day to celebrate reading. The children were dressed in wonderful costumes and they read their favourite books with their friends. We even tried reading in unusual places in the classroom! We also had the chance to share some reading with Year 4 children and design a new book token for a national competition. What a brilliant day it was!
Year 2 have had a fantastic day celebrating World Book Day!
At the end of last half term, Mrs Potter was blown away by the children’s writing in Y2 so she desperately wanted the children in Y6 to enjoy it too! The older children were very impressed by Y2’s creative writing and were thoroughly entertained – just what a great story should do.
Y6 had enjoyed the opportunity to free write in English this week and produced stories with a moral for their special friends in reception. It was good to have a real purpose for writing and the Y6 children took real pride in producing some lovely tales for their younger friends.
In Year 2 we celebrated Valentine’s Day by creating our own Valentines Day cards out of our sketching artwork. They turned out beautiful and I am sure our special people will love them.
We also all enjoyed special valentines day treats for our lunch! They were delicious so we wanted to say thank you to Janice and her team.
As part of children’s mental health week in school, we explored what it means to belong. This could be at home, at school, or in groups outside of school. We then thought about how we can help others feel like they belong and we did a “pair share talk time” to help us build up our Year 1 connections. We ended our work with some dancing to the song ‘Everyone is Awesome.’
In Year 1, we looked at the story ‘Penguinpig’ as part of our ‘Safer Internet Day’ activities. It made us see that what we see or read online might not always be true.
