Another fantastic year for World Book Day. It was lovely to see so many of the children, and staff, in their amazing costumes!
Year One have had a fantastic day, celebrating World Book Day 2019! All of the children looked amazing, dressed as their favourite book character and we had lots of fun looking at each other’s costumes. We also designed our own book covers, shared stories with our Year Five buddies and made bunting for our community library.
We wish every day was World Book Day!
Year One had a very important job to do as part of their science work this week.
The Three Little Pigs roof has been letting in lots of water and they wanted to know which material would keep the water out!
Year One were happy to help and carried out an experiment to find out which materials are waterproof.
We decided that the most waterproof material was plastic!
Year 2 had a fantastic day, celebrating World Book Day. We were all amazingly dressed as different characters and throughout the day we made Sleeping Beauty books, enjoyed paired reading with Year 4 and made some special bunting for the community library.
What a wonderful day it was!
Year One have had a fantastic afternoon celebrating their 100% attendance with a special afternoon off timetable.
The children decided that they wanted to spend half of the afternoon planning and half watching a film.
I’m sure that they will want to win again next week!
Happy 50th Birthday Mrs Chrisp from your Marsden Family.
We were so excited to have Ranger Rob from ZooLab visit our class this week. He brought his rainforest animals. We met Turbo and Shelly the giant snails, Tilly the tarantula, Harry the python, Crystal and Jade the rats, Comet the tee frog, And Fred, Matilda and Maggie the cockroaches. They were amazing and Ranger Rob told us some interesting facts about them and where they live.
What a brilliant day we had!
Year 2 have really got into the ‘swing’ of this term’s topic of the amazing Amazon.
We began by reading Gorilla by Anthony Browne, where the children used their imaginations to create some magnificent ‘Super Gorilla’ stories. Alongside this we transformed our classroom reading area into a jungle which grew outside of our room with our work on The Jungle Book. The children have created some fantastic jungle animals at home to live in our jungle areas and, at school, Jungle Book characters have been painted and a Kaa snake mobile has been created. Our classroom looks truly wonderful!
Our work has not stopped there. We’ve explored Henri Rousseau’s art and created our own terrific tiger pictures. We’ve written animal riddles and researched facts about jungle animals. Now we are exploring the rainforest and look forward to some special rainforest creatures visiting us very soon!
We have had a fantastic afternoon at our Key Stage One Christmas party. We danced, played lots of games and ate delicious party food.
We were even lucky enough to receive a visit from a very special someone….
