In computing, we have been learning all about algorithms Today we tested our skills on the IPads. The children have learnt how to get on to the internet and search for the website we wanted. We all managed to direct the robot to his alien friends using an algorithm.

Our topic this term in Year 1 is Fire and Ice. Today we have been making a background for our pictures. We talked about what colours we could use to show fire or ice. The children created their backgrounds inspired by Kandinsky’s abstract art. Tomorrow we will be adding our pictures to them!
We have also had a special visitor in our class, a lost penguin! We decided to take on the task of findings it’s family and the children created lost posters which we have put up around school. They also thought it would be a fantastic idea to put the posters on our website to reach more people. If the penguin belongs to you can you let us know!!
We have been learning all about penguins! Today we became scientists and looked at how penguins keep dry. We learnt they have special waxy feathers. We all made our own waxy penguins and tested them by spraying on water. We all managed to create a waterproof penguin!
Year 1, 2 and 3 performed fantastically in their Christmas production ‘The Late Angel.’ All of their teachers were so proud of them all.

Year 2 want to say a big thank you to our special winter visitors Sandra and Lisa.
We all toasted marshmallows by the campfire and created Christmas lollipop craft.
What a fun time we all had!
Year 2 have really enjoyed all of the their fun festive activities.
Year 2 have been writing letters to Santa Claus. We told Santa Claus why we believe in the magic of Christmas, how good we have been (fingers crossed EVERYONE is on the Good List) and a short list of gifts we would like. We then placed our letters in the Santa pouches which we have sewn together ourselves and popped them under our Christmas Tree.
Lets all hope Santa collects our letters.
What a fantastic morning we had with our special visitor Sandra! We learnt how to be safe around fires and most importantly how to make the best s’mores ever! We enjoyed toasting our own marshmallows and putting them inside two chocolate biscuits to make a tasty treat! We were all super well behaved and we made fantastic memories. Then when in class, we created some Christmas ornaments to take home! We were so proud of the final results, they look amazing and we hope you like them too!
We have had a magical week! We started off the week creating moving Christmas pictures and we were fantastic with our cutting and colouring skills! Today we hadn’t our Christmas party! We played lots of games, including pass the pudding and danced our socks off to Christmas music with Year 2 in our beautiful outfits! We then had a massive surprise! On our way back to class, we discovered footprints who were from the one and only Santa Clause! He had left us presents under our tree! We then enjoyed a perfect feast together talking about our favourite parts of the day.

We have been busy making our Christingle for our church service! We learnt all about the different parts and then enjoyed some of our sweeties!
