Our Year 6 pupils have returned to school after a hugely successful residential at Broomley Grange in Stocksfield. The children had a thoroughly enjoyable time and learned lots of information linked to their geography project on the River Tyne and their history project linked to Castles.
Throughout the week we focus on developing social skills and teamwork through physical activities. This year the children took part in climbing and abseiling, mid-ropes, assault course, zip wire, archery, camp craft, Hexham Treasure Trail and canoeing on the River Tyne.
The children all completed log books whilst they were there and will be taking them home at the end of term as a memento of their visit.
We began using Broomley Grange for our annual Y6 residential experience in 1999 and it has always been a highlight for children as they come to the end of their time at Marsden. This year was my last residential at Broomley Grange and I thoroughly enjoyed my time with the children.Their attitude and behaviour were excellent and was remarked on by various members of the public.
My thanks to Mrs O’Brien and Miss Clark for giving their time and enthusiasm, which allows the visit to take place.
Thank you Year 6 for a great week!
Take a look at some photos from the visit in our “Galleries” section.
