Reception had a lovely afternoon showing their grown ups all of their hard work, they were super excited to show off all of their challenges and achievements.
EYFS Staff were so proud of Marlon and Reuben during planning this week. The boys were planning in the maths investigation area and they used the ladybirds and buttons to explore the part whole model.
Marlon: 10 and 10 makes 20! The 9 and 1 make the other 10.
Reuben: And 7 and 7 make 15. I used 5 and 2 for my 7.
Great work boys!
This week in reception the children have been hunting in our school environment to find as many different types of minibeasts as they could. They were all very excited and discovered many minibeats which were hiding around out school!
EYFS wanted to say a massive “Well Done!” To Year 6 for their mature and positivity during SAT’s Week. We made them a little good luck card by drawing something to make them smile with a poem on the back.
Then on Friday, we made the trip up to the Year 6 classroom armed with cookies for our smart cookies 🍪
We hope you liked your treats as they were well deserved.
Well done to all of the EYFS children for their fantastic Spring themed Assembly. Lovely loud voices and super singing.
EYFS are always eager to learn new information about the world, especially if it involves a celebration! Last week, we talked all about the Hindu festival Holi which is also called the “Festival of Colour”.
Traditionally, people throw coloured powder at each other however we decided to use a clever piece of technology called Sphero to help us spread colour. First, we squirted different coloured paint on a large white sheet. Then we made Sphero move by controlling a blue spot on the app.
We loved our final Holi masterpiece!
EYFS have had a lovely time this week celebrating maths and number as part of World Maths Day.
In Nursery, we matched quantity to numerals, made our own rangoli patterns on the ipads and peg boards and took part in a numeral recognition competition.
Reception have been learning all about the number 6, counting dominoes and sorted numerals.
We also loved being Rockstars for the day!
To celebrate World Number Day (08.03.2023), we decided to hold our own Maths Rockstar Day. We took part in different challenges ranging from numeral recognition in Nursery, Numbots activities in Reception and KS1, right up to TTRockstars Battles in KS2. The winners in KS2 were allowed to pick an adult to compete against live in the hall. Of course the children were the fastest thinkers and were victorious over staff. There were also prizes for best Best Dressed and Best Air Guitarist.
