Before we broke up for Half Term, EYFS asked the children to work with parents to create their own Chinese Dragon! They could choose how they wanted to represent the dragon and we were overwhelmed by the response. Aren’t they fantastic?!

To begin our topic of “My Colourful World”, the Early Years have been looking at the Elmer stories. We have had such fun making our own Elmers, experimenting with different patterns and making posters get a lost teddy back home.

We can’t even begin to describe how proud we are of the Foundation Stage stars for putting on such a professional performance of Frozen for our Christmas production.
Every child was amazing!
Last week, the children in the Foundation Stage enjoyed a fantastic Christmas party.
We played games, ate food and even had a visit from Santa!
The snow has arrived! For the majority of the children in the Foundation Stage Unit it was their first experience of snow so we put on our wellies and waterproofs on to go investigate. Although each group only stayed out for 5 minutes, they gained so much from the experience by using descriptive language, discussing scientific processes such as melting and exploring something new.

Today the Foundation Stage children enjoyed having a Teddy Bears’ Picnic. The children all brought in their own Cuddly toy from home and ate jam sandwiches and biscuits that the children had made themselves.
At the picnic we also played a positional language game, which Millie and Chocolate and Scarlett and Belle won. We even performed our own Teddy Bear dance.

What a fantastic week we have had in the Foundation Stage. The children have explored the learning environment and new enjoyed making new friends.

In the Foundation Stage, the children have been eagerly watching five hungry caterpillars turn into beautiful butterflies. Everyone was interested in the changes that happened and were regularly checking to see which stage of their life cycle they were at.
On Monday we set them free in our sensory garden. We hope they come back to visit soon.

Today, Foundation Stage children have been working hard to spread smiles around the area. We drew happy faces and have stuck them all around the yard and Whitburn.
