Today Year 1 swapped their books for shaving foam to practice our letter formation. Even Miss Corr couldn’t resist having a try!
This week in Science Year 3 became pedologists. (Science Soil Experts) . They were given 3 samples of soil to investigate and analyse. The children had to deduce which soil was the sandy soil, silty soil and clay soil. We used our senses to help us. First we started off by using magnifying glasses to look in detail, then moved on to touch and hear as we scrapped the soil.
Finally we completed a Ribbon test on each sample which involves adding small amounts of water to see if the soil can be rolled into a ball. It was very messy but we had a great time!
This week in Reception we have been discussing the end of winter and how the weather changes as we move into Spring. We mixed PVA glue and shaving foam together to make the snowman’s melted body and added his buttons, hat and carrot nose. It was a super fun activity and reception thoroughly enjoyed themselves.

This half term Year 3 are exploring Prehistoric Art. The children have loved the topic especially using different materials. We have sketched animals, created charcoal drawings and this week we have been making our own cave. We have even made our own paint!
Well Done Year 3.
Year Five spent an extremely chilly but very informative day at Jarrow Hall, learning more about Anglo Saxon life. We met the animals and found out all about their many uses; discovered how the Saxons used herbs to cure illnesses and re-enacted a Saxon/Viking battle!
Today, year 4 have been using code to programme a turtle to write an initial of their name. Super work!
Some of our all day children took part in a science experiment yesterday to see if they could make some noodles dance! The children added water and vinegar to their container along with the noodles but nothing happened. We then added some magic powder (bicarbonate of soda) which caused the noodles to dance.
Chief Scientist Mrs Elliott was very impressed with the vocabulary the children used to share their observations. The mini scientists conducted their own test to see if the noodles moved quicker to music!
Yesterday, Year 5 investigated water resistance by creating different shapes with plasticine and timing how long they took to reach the bottom.
