To celebrate World Book Day, Y5 designed our own book token, book covers, bookmarks and completed some puzzles and quizzes. Of course the day wouldn’t be complete without a little quiet reading.
Today we enjoyed sharing a story with our year 6 buddies, showing all of our world book day costumes and drawing our own favourite book covers.
Year 1 enjoyed a day to celebrate reading. The children were dressed in wonderful costumes and they read their favourite books with their friends. We even tried reading in unusual places in the classroom! We also had the chance to share some reading with Year 4 children and design a new book token for a national competition. What a brilliant day it was!
Year 2 have had a fantastic day celebrating World Book Day!

As part of our science topic this half term, Y5 are looking at the life cycle of a human.
We talked about the different stages and how quickly we grow. To measure this, we decided to record all our heights by measuring them in groups and then we will check again in July to see how much we have grown over this time.
In the opening chapter of our new text, Boom!, we discover that the main character’s favourite sandwiches are cheddar cheese and strawberry jam. We thought this was a peculiar pairing so we decided to give them a try.
Unfortunately it was mainly a thumbs down from Y5 but some children enjoyed the taste!
This half in DT, Y5 have started to look at bridges and how they are structured. Mrs Potter started this topic off by exploring different shapes and techniques which could be used to give them study structures.

Two weeks ago, the children were set the task of designing a new traffic sign which will be displayed outside of school encouraging drivers to slow down to ensure everyone in our community stays safe.
The standard of entries was amazing! The top 3 from each class have been displayed in the corridor before Mrs Marshall and Mrs Wilson chose the winner. Special mention to our highly commended entry from KS1 – Rocco and from KS2, Evie.
The winner of the competition was…..nursery! Well done everyone! We loved your colourful handprints and thought the clear design would definitely catch the attention of drivers.
