Hope you all enjoy the latest Bedtime Story!
As it is National Storytelling Week, I will be adding a story to website every day.
We have lots of fun learning about Chinese New Year in EYFS bubble. We have made flags, explored money, helped to tidy the environment and looked at the story of ‘The Great Race’.
We have had a brilliant day in EYFS today! We welcomed our new friend into Foundation Stage, we talked about Jack Frost and went on a special ice adventure and then we played in our new classroom areas.
We can’t wait for tomorrow!
EYFS have worked very hard this week! We have been learning about New Year and completed lots of special ‘New Year’ challenges. We made New Years’ Resolutions, wrote ‘Thank You’ cards from Christmas and practised counting back too.
Nursery rhymes provide bite-sized learning opportunities for young children to develop key developmental skills and can often be the trigger for hours of creative and open-ended play. They are a powerful learning source in early literacy and enable children to become interested in the rhythm and patterns of language.
“Experts in literacy and child development have discovered that if children know eight nursery rhymes by heart by the time they’re four years old, they’re usually among the best readers by the time they’re eight. -”
Mem Fox, Reading Magic.
Below is a booklet containing some classic Nursery Rhymes that you and your child can enjoy together. You can also put the names of your favourite rhymes into YouTube so you can watch and listen to them. Alternatively, Cbeebies iplayer has some great Rhymes from Mr Tumble.
Let us know your favourite Nursery Rhyme in the comment box below 🙂

We would like to wish Miss Smith good luck for the future and say a big thank you for all of your hard work 😊
Nursery and Reception have been learning about Hanukkah. We listened to a special story, watched some videos of children celebrating Hanukkah and we made our own dreidel too.
