Yesterday in Year 2 we started our new Computing topic Digital Music. The children loved listening to different types of music and started to create their own music.
To help Year 5 with programming in computing, we were introduced to Lego Spike by Mrs Haywood. We had to build our models and then programme them to move and make sounds. It was great fun!
The children in Y6 were introduced to Spike Lego today by Mrs Haywood from OpenZone.
After they had successfully built their robots, the children then programmed them to show off some funky dance moves.
EYFS are always eager to learn new information about the world, especially if it involves a celebration! Last week, we talked all about the Hindu festival Holi which is also called the “Festival of Colour”.
Traditionally, people throw coloured powder at each other however we decided to use a clever piece of technology called Sphero to help us spread colour. First, we squirted different coloured paint on a large white sheet. Then we made Sphero move by controlling a blue spot on the app.
We loved our final Holi masterpiece!
Today, Year 5 visited Nissan to take part in their Code Club session. We learned how to program our robots to complete tasks and follow routes around the factory and also got to watch how real robots work on the factory floor! We were treated to juice, cookies and a pen and blue tooth speaker to take home!
Today Year 3 have taken part in Safer Internet Day. The children watched Webster’s Friend: https://youtu.be/WixQdofGds8
A lovely story about 2 spiders who are chatting online. We discussed the importance of being yourself and not telling lies and over exaggerating. The children also looked at why it is important to not share personal information online.
They created some beautiful posters which we will put up in our classroom
Well Done Year 3!
EYFS celebrated Safer Internet Day today by sharing the story of Dot.
Dot liked to play on her devices inside and had forgotten how much fun she could have outside unplugged.
You can share the story at home by clicking on the link below.
Today Y4 explored using loops when writing code. We created some 2d shapes by adapting the values in the code we created.
Today, year 4 have been using code to programme a turtle to write an initial of their name. Super work!
Year 5 have coded their own ‘chase’ games using Scratch. They designed codes to make their sprites move, chase another sprite, keep score and even added celebratory sounds when the game finished. As a challenge, they added their own variations to ‘level up’ their game! Amazing work!
