Congratulations to the winners of our Halloween Raffle!
This week during Number Time, Nursery have been focusing on using positional language and representing number.
Mrs Elliott took the children through the school on a Spooky Hunt to find Halloween creatures. Every time they discovered a creature, they made a mark on their hunt sheet. The children were very focused and talked about where the creatures were hiding.
Mrs Hanratty worked with the children on extending their positional vocabulary. We stuck the characters from our Magic Monday story, Room on the Broom, and then described were they were all sitting. The children were encouraged to use vocabulary such as “in front”, “behind”, “on top”, “below” and were even challenged to use “in between”.
Check out a selection of our work below 😀
A spooky time was had by all!
We loved seeing all of our EYFS looking so scary in their Halloween costumes yesterday
Spooky school has already proved very popular with the children this week. They have loved engaging in role play, strengthening their fine motor skills and exploring sensory trays! The Nursery children have already started to turn staff into frogs 🐸
We look forward to sharing some of our scary learning tasks 🕷️
Year 6 were very keen to ‘taste’ a selection of new books at our book tasting event.
It was great to see everyone engrossed in their reading and sharing their thoughts about the books.
Last week Year 5 had a brilliant time visiting the Hindu Temple in Newcastle.
Year 6 have been learning ‘The Tyger’ by William Blake. We put our own actions to it and performed it outside.
We think it is terrific!
Year 1 had the best day preparing our Toy Museum. We chose our favourite toys, made our own worker lanyards and organised our toys from oldest to newest. We even got to have a try on a DS and a GameBoy!
We then cut the red ribbon and welcomed our family and friends to look at all our hard work. We gave out tickets, served snacks and showcased our very own handmade toys.
It was lovely to hear families share stories of their favourite toys and discuss all the memories from their own childhoods. Wonderful memories were made!
Thank you to everyone who came.
