Year Five are making amazing progress with their brass instruments and even began learning to read music in today’s lesson. Well done Year 5!
Year 1 have had the best day down at the seaside! We found so many sea creatures like crabs, shrimps, fish, starfish and even a Sea Hare which was huge! The children behaved fantastically and really did us proud. 🙂
For our DT topic this half term we have been looking at healthy eating. We enjoyed cutting and chopping fruits and vegetables to make different smoothies.
This week in reception the children have been hunting in our school environment to find as many different types of minibeasts as they could. They were all very excited and discovered many minibeats which were hiding around out school!
The children showed off their artistic skills before half term by taking part in our yearly art gallery. Every child completed a 2-d and 3-d piece of art.
A fantastic opportunity to share the skills the children have been developing with their family.
Y4 kicked off Beach School with something very special. This year, they are going to be involved in a project to help conserve ringed plovers’ nests on Jackie’s beach. These birds are very special but their nests are often destroyed by people walking on the beach because they are hidden so well! After helping the conservationist, Y4 looked at the magnesium limestone and how it can be eroded. They also got the chance to explore the rock pools to see what sea creatures were living there.
Congratulations to Year 3 for performing a brilliant class assembly. We have been learning about the Ancient Egyptians and the children loved demonstrating their knowledge. The singing and acting was perfect, they made me very proud.
Well done Year 3
Y4 enjoyed a visit to Arbeia Roman fort. All of the children were able to experience what it would be like to be an archeologist as they explored real Roman artefacts and tried to deduce what they were. With our group leader, we learned how simple every day objects can tell us a lot about the people who used them.
After lunch, we were able to explore the fort ruins and reconstructed buildings to learn more about what life was like at the fort.
Congratulations to our Y4 children who completed their one day Bikeability course!
