We always encourage the children at Marsden to be healthy. Every child who chose to have two portions of vegetables as part of their dinner was given a raffle ticket. Children who bring in a packed lunch also took part and received a ticket is their lunch included two pieces of fruit.
At the end of the week we picked some lucky winners.
Congratulations and keep making those healthy choices!
At Marsden out our motto is “Everyone cares, Everyone matters” and that includes caring for environment. These children have been selected from each class to help to think about ways we can turn a Marsden into a green school.

Year 2 have really got into the ‘swing’ of this term’s topic of the amazing Amazon.
We began by reading Gorilla by Anthony Browne, where the children used their imaginations to create some magnificent ‘Super Gorilla’ stories. Alongside this we transformed our classroom reading area into a jungle which grew outside of our room with our work on The Jungle Book. The children have created some fantastic jungle animals at home to live in our jungle areas and, at school, Jungle Book characters have been painted and a Kaa snake mobile has been created. Our classroom looks truly wonderful!
Our work has not stopped there. We’ve explored Henri Rousseau’s art and created our own terrific tiger pictures. We’ve written animal riddles and researched facts about jungle animals. Now we are exploring the rainforest and look forward to some special rainforest creatures visiting us very soon!
This afternoon, the classroom rooms of Marsden transformed into movie theatres.
Every class was set the task of decorating their classroom door on the theme of a musical. As you can see from the pictures below, the children surpassed all expectations. To reward all of the hard work, the children watched the movie of their musical with popcorn and juice.
I wonder what the next challenge will be?
To start our latest topic of Chinese New Year, the Nursery children looked at objects associated with the Chinese culture.
We learned some new vocabulary and why red is important.
Congratulations to all of this week’s winners.
