As part of Healthy Schools Week, our lovely Marsden families enjoyed an energetic bike ride to school followed by a nutritious breakfast at school.
Today, Year Six had a visit from Show Racism the Red card, a charity organisation who aim to improve understanding of racism and prejudice. The morning was very informative and the children found out lots about acceptable and unacceptable words to use surrounding race and culture.
In the afternoon, we were lucky enough to be put through our paces by Gary Bennet (ex Sunderland AFC player) who led us in a football fitness session.
Today Mr O’Brien joined Year 6 with his ‘Leavers 2019’ hoody, to celebrate his retirement from Marsden Primary School.
We celebrated Mr O’Brien’s retirement with a special assembly, looking back at all of the amazing things that he has done for our school.
Over the past 8 years he has organised wilderness school, visited London, Broomley Grange and Thurston with Years 5 and 6 and has also proudly produced our fantastic school choir.
We will miss you Mr O’Brien!
Well done Year Four for your amazing class assembly on ‘Wilderness School’.
Well done to everyone who joined us for our Foundation Stage and Key Stage One ‘Wake Up and Shake Up’ this morning.
What a great way to start our day!
It was very exciting at school today because our eggs began hatching, a day early!
At the end of the school day, we had three new chicks and three more hatched by 5.30 so we have six.
They are amazing and we can’t wait to hold them, once they have rested and dried out. It also looks like we will have more chicks by tomorrow as our last four eggs have all started cracking too.
On Tuesday 4th June, Year 2 visited The Word in South Shields as part of their topic work on transport. When we were there, we worked on computers, with 2Create a Superstory, and used coding to make an electronic transport book with moving pictures. We became engineers with Lego Wedo and made moving boats and aeroplanes. Finally, we were filmed in front of the green screen talking and singing about different forms of transport. This was then edited together and special effects added and the result was amazing! We look forward to sharing our film with friends and family at our class assembly on Friday 14th June.
What a great day we had!
Today School Council visited the People’s Kitchen in Newcastle to find out about the brilliant work they do. The children and myself were amazed at all of the fantastic services they offer people in need.
Today Year 4 took part in a sponsored basketball event.
The children were split into teams for the day. Some were trying to see how many hoops they could score while the other teams enjoyed a match. They groups then swapped over.
Everyone had a great time for a good cause!
