Today the year 3 and 4 bubble have been making pancakes in preparation for Shrove Tuesday next week. We used RE lessons to learn all about why we eat pancakes and made some for ourselves. We would love to see pictures of the pancakes you make at home!
This week in the Year 1 and 2 bubble we had brilliant fun playing with the parachute as a special treat for working super hard. We loved playing parachute games, our favourite was Fruit Salad.

As it is National Storytelling Week, I will be adding a story to website every day.
Today Year 3 and 4 have been discussing books they would and would not like to read based upon the front covers. We surprised ourselves when we chose to read some of the books we didn’t like the look of and actually enjoyed the text.
We learnt not to judge a book by its cover!
We challenge you to read a book you don’t like the look of – maybe you will enjoy it!
In Year 3 and 4 this week, we have created a piece of art based upon our English text. We used watercolours to paint the background and added some dark trees to create the mysterious forest in which Jub lives. We also wrote a poem to describe the forest using our 5 senses.

Saturday marked the beginning of storytelling week. Reading stories to children can show them far-flung places, extraordinary people and eye-opening situations to expand and enrich their world.
At Marsden, we always encourage and promote a love of reading. We are extremely lucky to have our own “Grandad’s Library” at school and the children always tell us how much they love sharing the books with you at home.
To help celebrate this week we have set the children two storytelling challenges and staff will be telling you about their favourite books throughout the week.
Videos and pictures of your challenges can be sent to [email protected] and will be proudly displayed on our website for everyone to enjoy.

This week as part of our History topic we have been learning about the Wright Brothers. We were fascinated to learn about how an aeroplane was invented and loved watching the first flight.
We had great fun making our own paper aeroplanes and had a competition to see who’s plane could travel the furthest!
This week, Year 3 and 4 have created a piece of artwork based on a picture from our text in English.
