As part of our Mamma Mia topic, Year Four sampled some Italian delicacies – risotto, prosciutto, focaccia, pepperoni and tortellini. Every child tasted something and the responses were overwhelmingly positive! Over the next few week, we will be designing our own Italian dishes and, at the end of the unit, we hope to invite parents in to taste our dishes!
Thank you so so much for all of the kind gifts and well wishes. All of the staff at marsden, children and parents have been so generous and I am totally overwhelmed by my amazing gifts. My year 5 class were very good at keeping a secret for two weeks, Miss Clark successfully dug out old pictures and Mrs Marshall excelled herself in the assembly. I look forward to returning to school as Mrs Carr in September and thank you all again for everything you have done. Marsden Primary School truly is extra special.
On Thursday we had a very emotional Year Six Leavers’ Assembly. Take a look at the gallery to see what it was like.
Our children have such beautiful voice, click here to hear a little bit from them.
Our staff added their own part to the assembly. Click here to see what you think.
Goodbye Year 6!
The month of July has been an extremely busy time for the pupils of Year 6. They have experienced lots of exciting activities before leaving for their future at secondary school. These range from a sandcastle challenge where they sculptures a large model of George Stephenson’s ‘Rocket’ from sand, a cycle ride to South Shields with the Community Police and a workshop with archaeologist, Stephen Robertson, who gave them the opportunity to handle Roman artefacts.
In recognition of their excellent attitude and commitment to the demands of Year 6 throughout the year, the children were rewarded with a visit to the ‘Dunes’ for games of bowling followed by lunch from Colman’s and games in the park.
Amidst all of this, the children managed rehearsals for their end of school assembly and two transition days at Whitburn Academy. As their proud teacher, I feel they are now fully prepared for ‘The Next Big Step’ in their lives. Good Luck year 6 and achieve great things!
The parents of our Year 6 children wanted to come to gather to celebrate the wonderful friendships they have made whilst at Marsden Primary School.
It looks like they had a great time !
Congratulations to Jasmin and Alex who have won yet another trophy with Boldon Girls Football Team. Jasmin also won the award for ‘player of the month’. Well done girls!

Yesterday was the Y4 class assembly. The children thoroughly enjoyed performing as artists from the 20th Century and had the whole school singing and dancing along! Thank you again for coming to watch and providing some fantastic costumes! Here are some photos of our ‘legends’!
In Year Four, our recent English work has been based around a short Disney film called Feast, which features an adorable French bulldog named Winston. Imagine our delight when a real life Winston came to visit us today! I think you’ll all agree that he is just amazing! Thanks so much to Mrs Payne for bringing Dave to meet us.
