Year 2 have had an interesting pumpkin week at school. We have looked at how a pumpkin grows, investigated the number of seeds in a pumpkin, made pumpkin pastel pictures and hanging pumpkins. After reading Winnie’s Amazing Pumpkin, we decided to make pumpkin pie too!
In Year 1 we are learning about how humans change as they grow.
We had a fantastic afternoon looking at how we have changed!
To follow on from our school harvest festival, the children in Year 2 explored the Jewish Sukkot festival and we made some Challah bread that is eaten during Sukkot.
It was delicious.
What brilliant bakers we are!
Year 2 have been reading ‘The Day the Crayons Quit’ and ‘The Day the Crayons Came back’. We have loved these stories and created some wonderful work from it. We have made our own rainbow crayons, wrote letters and postcards, created 3D crayons and melted crayons to create colourful art.
Yesterday we found a lost owl in Year One! Our special visitor has been telling us all about her three owl babies: Sarah, Percy and Bill. We asked Mammy Owl lots of questions to find out who she is and where she is from and she then told us her special story ‘Owl Babies’. Mammy Owl then split us into groups to retell the story by ourselves.
We have some brilliant story tellers in Year One!
We have had a brilliant week learning about our achievements in Year One. For homework, the children were asked to bring something into school that they are proud of, so that they could share it with the rest of the class.
We have lots of talented children in Year One!
As part of our ‘This is Me’ topic, Year One have had lots of fun learning about the human body!
