This afternoon we had a brilliant time in Year 1 decorating our classroom. We dressed up, made snowflakes and put the decorations up.
Everyone had a great day for Children In Need. The children completed Pudsey themed activities and were treated to Pudsey biscuits at lunch time from the Kitchen Staff.
Thank you for your generosity!
Here is a useful powerpoint explaining the December Phonics Test
This week in Year One we have been exploring 2D shapes. We had a brilliant time finding, building and exploring shapes.
Mrs Stothard set us a super challenge. Could we make a circle with the peg board?
It was very tricky but we were able to prove it was impossible.
Year 2 were very busy creating poppies for our poppy wreath to help commemorate “Remembrance Day.” We explored various ways of staining coffee filter papers to colour our poppies, then once dried we cut, twisted and shaped our poppies to help create our wreath. It was great fun!
Year 2 had an amazing Halloween Day and it certainly was FUN! The costumes were brilliant and that added to the super atmosphere of the day. The children participated in spooky craft sessions creating Trick or Treat Bags, spooky skulls and creepy bats. We had great fun playing Halloween party games and we all laughed so much. We ended the day with a scrumptious tea party where our lovely friend Lucia won the chocolate Halloween raffle prize for Year 2. Well done Lucia, all your friends were so happy for you winning the big prize. Happy Halloween everyone!
Today Year One became ‘Spooky School’. We played party games in the hall, then we made witches and bats. It was brilliant fun! On the afternoon we watched a spooky film and had some spooky snacks.
Everyone looked fantastic in their costumes too!
What a fun day!
This week in Year 1 we have been exploring pumpkins. On Monday three special pumpkins arrived! We wanted to find out which pumpkin had the most seeds. Everyone estimated the largest pumpkin would have the most seeds.
Then we had great fun scooping out the pumpkins and using our counting strategies.
Our results were:
Pumpkin : 575 seeds
Pumpkin 2: 552 seeds
Pumpkin 3: 516 seeds
This meant the smallest pumpkin had the most seeds! We were very surprised!
As part of our ‘Once Upon A Time’ topic we have been looking at castles. We looked at the features, then drew castles and had great fun creating our own.
We are looking forward to making chalk castles next week.
