What a lovely time the EYFS children had sharing a book in Grandad’s Library with their family.
We can’t wait for our next sessions!

Last week the Reception children made their own Chinese drums and took them to the hall to test them out. They were so good that they woke up the Chinese Lion!
To end our topic of Chinese New Year, EYFS thought about the Chinese tradition of the wishing tree. People write down their wish on something red (a lucky colour) and then tie them to the wishing tree hoping they come true. We were so excited to discover we had our very own wishing tree in the garden!
We wrote down our wishes and put them on the tree. Wishes included holidays, for family to be happy and safe and some pets.
Everyone keep their fingers crossed they come true 🤞
To continue our Chinese New Year celebrations, this week we have made Chinese stir-fry. The children explored all of the ingredients, chopped them independently, helped to cook the ingredients using a wok and then finally were able to taste their delicious cooking!
This week in EYFS we started to look at the tradition of Chinese New Year. We were so impressed with the Parent Partnership homework the children completed at home and their enthusiasm and curiosity has continued at school.
We have opened up our Chinese restaurant, looked at the story of behind Chinese New Year, explored Chinese objects, created Chinese symbols and made our own lanterns while practising using scissors.
We can’t wait to find out more!
The children and staff had a fantastic first week in EYFS and have settled well back into our routine.
We welcomed new members to our Marsden family and look forward to starting our new theme of Chinese New Year.
We’ve had a lovely morning in the Foundation Stage playing with our toys. We are now enjoying a festive film treat for the end of term.
Yesterday, the children of the Foundation Stage had a fantastic time at their Christmas party. We even enjoyed a visit from two special guests.
Wow! Our smallest children are always surprising me but their performance of our show Cinderella was outstanding! The staff are so proud of each and every one of them.
A big thank you to all the parents for the fantastic costumes and practising lines.
We hope you enjoyed the show as much as we enjoyed performing it!
The Foundation Stage children spent the morning learning about Christingles and making their own.
Aren’t they fantastic?
