Today we enjoyed the story of “Samuel Heard a Noise”.
This week we have learning all about Diwali. We loved our visit from Sid, who told us all about his Diwali celebrations in his family.
Year 1 have been learning all about churches and we had a very special visit from Reverend Vernon. We found out all about his Whitburn Parish Church and his job in that church. We also shared our floor book with him to show our amazing knowledge about churches so far. It was a very interesting afternoon!
Today, we walked down to Whitburn Church to celebrate our Harvest Festival. There was some fantastic singing from all our Choir and the rest of the school. Thank you for all the kind donations which will be taken to Hospitality and Hope.
Today we listened to the story of Noah.
Ahead of our upcoming RE unit, Year 4 visited Durham Cathedral to find out about the history of the building and the life of St Cuthbert. They enjoyed an internal and external tour, a riverside walk, took part in team building challenges linked to key events in St Cuthbert’s life and acted out some of the stories. Our guide, Joseph, made sure that we all learned so many facts and had lots of fun!
Today we learnt all about why Shrove Tuesday is celebrated and made pancakes in preparation for the Christian celebration, Lent. We then discussed what we would give up for Lent and took part in pancake races.
This morning, we enjoyed listening to the story of the first Christmas and lit the first candle on the advent wreath.
A little drizzle didn’t stop Marsden having a lovely Christingle service together at Whitburn Church.
